Podcasing is an emerging digital medium consisting of online audio and video shows produced by both traditional media companies and an ever increasing roster of independents. Consumed in both connected and disconnected environments, on PCs and portable devices, and with distribution on thousands of websites and platforms, metrics and methods are still evolving for measuring them and describing the audience members who consume them. The newly formed Association for Downloadable Media (www.downloadablemedia.org) was founded in 2007 to develop common standards for the rapidly evolving medium.
During this I-COM panel we will discuss some of the issues surrounding measuring the new medium including -
- How do we define this content, and where and how is it accessed?
- What are some of the ways audiences, campaigns, engagement and ROI are being measured today, what are the challenges in measurement, and what ways are evolving for measuring them?
- How do we compare measures of online audio and video content with offline audio and video and is it relevant to do so?
To readers of this post, what interests do you have in these metrics and what discussion areas are most interesting to you?
